چکیده

We study hydrogenlike target excitation by a traveling electromagnetic pulse. The spatial size of the pulse l5ct (c is the speed of light and t is the pulse duration! is assumed to be comparable or less than the characteristic size of the initially occupied atomic state. When propagating through the atom, the pulse is shown to transform the electron wave function ‘‘slice by slice.’’ These transformations lead to electron transitions between states with Dm561 which are forbidden in the dipole approximation. The case of linear polarization is considered. It is found that magnetic-level excitation probabilities are small for the hydrogen atom, but can be more significant for the hydrogenlike multicharged ions.

Effects of intense laser pulse properties on wake field acceleration in magnetized plasma: Half-Sine Shape (HSS) and Gaussian Shape (GS) pulses

In this paper, we have simulated the excitation of wake fields in the interaction of an intensive laser pulses having Half-Sine and Gaussian time envelopes with a fully ionized cold plasma using particle in cell (PIC) method. We investigated the dependency of wake filed amplitude to different laser and plasma parameters such as laser wavelength, pulse duration and electron number density. In ad...

Influence of Interface Thermal Resistance on Relaxation Dynamics of Metal-Dielectric Nanocomposite Materials under Ultrafast Pulse Laser Excitation

Nanocomposite materials, including noble metal nanoparticles embedded in a dielectric host medium, are interesting because of their optical properties linked to surface plasmon resonance phenomena. For studding of nonlinear optical properties and/or energy transfer process, these materials may be excited by ultrashort pulse laser with a temporal width varying from some femtoseconds to some hund...

بررسی تجربی فتو‌تحریک سه مرحله‌ای اتم گادالینیم Gd با روش اپتوگالوانیک

Optogalavanic technique has been used widely in laser spectroscopy. In this paper we have presented the results of an experimental three- step photo- excitation of Gd atom, using optogalvanic technique. Three tunable dye laser pulses were applied to excite the Gd atom in a three-step photo – excitation process. The optogalvanic signal was used to monitor the laser wavelength and efficiency of...

Harmonic generation by atoms interacting with intense ultrashort laser pulses

The interaction of intense ultrashort laser pulses with a gas of argon atoms is numerically investigated. The investigation utilizes a model that solves both the time-dependent Schrödinger equation and the wave equation self-consistently. The time-dependent Schrödinger equation for single-active electron in the effective static potential and in the potential of electron-laser interaction is sol...

Critical power for self-focusing in the case of ultrashort laser pulses

We attempt to evaluate the applicability of the concept of the critical power for self-focusing, originally developed for intense quasi-continuous-wave (cw) beams, to the case of ultra-intense and ultrashort laser pulses propagating in air. Our results show that, unlike in the cw case, no particular value of peak pulse power can be viewed as a sharp demarcation line between linear and nonlinear...
